Used car reviews 2003-2008 review

TOYOTA corolla is a simple, fuel-efficient small car with a soft ride and a comfortable, spacious interior. Corolla is one of the most reliable cars in the used car market. TOYOTA corolla has front wheel drive and is equipped with manual or automatic transmission. The interior is a simple, practical and conservative style. The front seats are comfortable, but lack of side support. The front and leg space is good; back seat space is generous for small cars. The trunk provides 13.6 cubic meters. The foot cargo space and the back seat fold down to accommodate the longer items. On the way, corolla handles well, but doesn’t move. The journey was soft, smooth, fairly quiet. In general, the Corolla is an excellent choice for simple and reliable transportation; gas is good and easy to maintain. Corolla is worth a lot of money. If you decide to sell it one day, you should have no problem finding buyers.
Engine: the basic engine is 130 horsepower, 1.8 liters, 16 valve DOHC, with variable valve timing (VVT-i). The engine uses a persistent time chain; there is no synchronization belt. Sporty corolla XRS (limited to 2005 and 2006) provides 170 horsepower 1.8 liter 4 cylinder VVTL-i engine and 6 speed manual transmission, borrowed from TOYOTA Celica. None of these two engines should give you too much maintenance.

Fuel economy: corolla is one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the same class. The EPA estimates the 1.8L corolla in 2007 at a speed of 26/35 miles per hour, or 9 / 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers, which means you can travel 345 miles (554 kilometers) on an air tank. The annual fuel cost is estimated at $1950.

Safety: antilock brakes and side airbags are optional. In the NHTSA frontal crash test, the corolla in 2003-2008 years gained five stars for the driver and the front passenger. The Highway Safety Insurance Institute (IIHS) also received a “good” overall evaluation.

Advantages: fuel economy, reliability, good maintenance, easy maintenance, comfortable ride, spacious interior, easy to sell.

Disadvantages: interior styling, accelerated engine noise, fragile paint, steering can not be telescopic adjustment, interior material may be better

Competitors: Mazda 3 more sporty and fun to drive; it is reliable, but the fuel efficiency is low. The TOYOTA matrix and its mechanical twin Pontiac Vibe may be a good choice, if you need a utility cart; two vehicles are based on the corolla platform.  Nissan sentra unfortunately by the engine problems. The Honda Civic is another top competitor, if you are looking for a small, fuel-efficient cars. Civic provides better and more robust in processing. Chevrolet Cobalt is cheap, but not reliable.

What should you pay attention to when buying a second-hand TOYOTA corolla: looking at the second-hand car history report is a good first step, because it may show some previously reported accidents and other problems. If so, look at the service record and see if the car is regularly maintained. Check the car, check the oil level; low oil level may be too much oil consumption performance, which is corolla quite common problem. At the start of the blue smoke should tell you to avoid the car.
